Overview

Responsible for managing daily operational duties as assigned by the SVP/Chief Human Resource Officer, including maintaining Human Resources dashboards and real-time data analysis. Duties include assisting with Benefits, Payroll, 401k management and Human Resource policies and procedures. Assist with ensuring that human resource activities are conducted in accordance with established Ascend policies and with governmental regulations.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing daily operational Human Resource activities, as assigned by SVP/CHRO.

 
Help to develop and maintain a strategy vision for the credit union’s human resource functions.

 
Help to develop wage/labor policies based on objective data regarding competition, business conditions and economic environment.

 
Help to create a methodology for tracking Ascend’s compliance functions.

 
Coordinate directly with Data Analysts and maintain real-time data for Human Resource matters.

 
Ensure that staffing levels are appropriate and human resources are effectively utilized. Conduct interviews and assist with hiring as needed.

 
Administer 401(k) Plan, Long Term Disability Plan, Group Health Insurance Plan, Flex Plan, AD&D, Group Life Insurance Plan, and Voluntary Insurance Plans; provide information on plans to employees.

 
Ensure that Human Resource policies are updated and communicated to credit union management and staff. Provide advice and interpretation regarding Human Resource policies as they related to individuals and to credit union objectives.

 
Oversee the distribution and allocation of the annual raise and bonus budget as provided by the Board of Directors. Keep management informed of matter regarding employee performance in the allocation of funds.

 
Responsible for the quarterly coaching process. This includes setting up new evaluations when required; maintaining the start/close process; and reviewing evaluations and recommending changes as needed. Serve as contact with software vendor.

 
Take incoming calls from Managers with a variety of employment matters and situations arising on a day-to-day basis.

 
Responsible for review and decisions on employee disciplinary process.

 
Research and help to implement streamlined operations with data analysis, technology, and Human Resource Department process improvement.

 
Research and gather data for SVP/CHRO presentations.
 

Coordinate with Data Analysts to manage real-time performance metrics from members and employees that could affect Ascend’s overall operations.
 

Responsible for the supervision and training of department personnel. Evaluate personnel and make recommendations for employee advancement or disciplinary action.
 

Keep direct supervisor informed of the departments’ needs, such as additional staff, problems with equipment/software, vendors or suppliers and serious member/employee complaints or problems.
 

Prepare performance evaluations for employees and make recommendations for raises, promotions, disciplinary action, or termination. Check and verify employees' timecards.
 

Regularly monitor employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, recognition, rewards, and motivation to employees.
 

Maintain current knowledge of federal regulations and credit union policies.
 

Work on special projects, as required.
 

Read all internal publications including Source and Possibilities.

Qualifications

Four year degree or equivalent experience.

 
Knowledge of human resource laws and regulations.
 

Excellent written and oral skills required in order to communicate and/or explain personnel matters.
 

A high degree of poise and tact to represent the credit union in a positive manner to employees, potential employees, and other contacts of importance to the credit union.
 

Must maintain a thorough knowledge of personnel policies and procedures in order to answer employee inquiries.

 
Must be able to model and promote high learning and growth expectations of staff, including job skills, productivity and efficiency, teamwork, motivation and commitment, communication and problem solving, and understanding of credit union mission and goals.
 

Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and the internet.  Must be able to be trained on ADP programs, Wonderlic, Halogen, InfiSource, and other related programs.

 
Regular and reliable attendance is required.
 

Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license vehicle.

 
Must be able to operate or have the ability to be trained to operate related office equipment, including calculator, check and receipt printers, computer terminal, multifunctional copier, and telephone.
