Oversee the day to day processing and quality operations of the residential mortgage lending department ensuring operating efficiency and compliance with Federal regulations and Board policies.
Coordinate and monitor all activities of the Mortgage Lending Department to ensure consistent, timely, and accurate processes plus the achievement of production goals.
Work with correspondent lenders to insure that secondary market loans are being reviewed in a timely manner and that the processing staff is reacting to requests to insure closing dates are being met.
Maintain current knowledge of federal regulations, RESPA guidelines, secondary market guidelines (including VA, FHA, FNMA and FHLMC), and credit union policies pertaining to mortgage loans. Make recommendations of changes in policies to VP of Mortgage Lending.
Meet service standards for each unit. This includes monitoring and measuring performance standards for mortgage lending staff.
Oversee the ongoing maintenance of the Mortgage Lending Manuals.
Serves as back-up for underwriting mortgage loans for approval, rejection or submitting to VP of Mortgage Lending for underwriting. Approves or rejects extension agreements, or submits them to VP of Mortgage Lending for approval or rejection.
Coach, train, and evaluate personnel and make recommendations for training, pay increases, advancement and disciplinary action. Audit employee credit union accounts within the mortgage department.
Responsible for reporting aspects of the departments. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly production reports, loan summary report, HMDA reporting, and portfolio exceptions.
Oversee software systems efficiency and accuracy. Assure updates of system, currently OpenClose and DocMagic, are made and functioning properly. Make recommendations to VP of Mortgage Lending for possible improvements.
Assist members and personnel with problems such as rejected loans, mortgage loan procedures, and policies.
Work with outside vendors and post-closing to insure that appropriate samplings of closed loans are audited for compliance with policy, procedures, and regulations.
Read all internal publications including Source and Possibilities.
Performs duties of Mortgage Loan Processor and Quality Analyst as necessary.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business related experience.
Three to five years of mortgage lending experience.
Strong secondary market experience.
Must be accurate and knowledgeable in all mortgage loan transactions.
Previous mortgage loan experience required, including loan counseling, interviewing and processing.
Must communicate in a friendly, professional and positive manner.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Working knowledge of computer programs such as HMDA, FICS, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, I-32 Form Design, and the internet desired.
Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
Ability to operate or have ability to be trained to operate related office equipment, including calculator, computer terminal (PC), copy machine, fax machine, receipt and check printers, telephone and typewriter.
