  • Overview

    Provide high-quality administrative services in the preparation of all collection and general legal related matters for the SVP/General Counsel.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare and mail collection letters from attorney, maintain monthly collection report and maintain tickler file.

     

    • Assist in the bankruptcy process, filing claims, retrieving documents and updating files.

     

    • Prepare and file General Sessions Court lawsuits, schedule court dates, and prepare files for court.

     

    • Prepare aliases, judgment letters, and continuance letters.

     

    • Monitor and revive judgments upon recommendation of Assistant VP of Asset Recovery.

     

    • Respond to subpoenas.

     

    • Respond to notices and file claims when credit union’s collateral has been seized. If necessary prepare documentation to be sent to an approved attorney to handle seizure.

     

    • File claims against members’ estates to protect the credit union’s interests and respond to deceased member account inquires.

     

    • Respond and process levies.

     

    • Assist Employees and Members with Power of Attorney inquiries.

     

    • Assist attorneys with foreclosure proceedings and follow up procedures.

     

    • Prepare all post judgment collection work, including executions, levies, liens, and garnishments. Issue and release judgment liens and levies when necessary.

     

    • . Coordinate drilling of safe deposit boxes, when appropriate, and disposal of contents.

     

    • Maintain notary applications.

     

    • Provide administrative support to SVP/General Counsel and Associate Counsel including typing letters, reports, and scheduling.

     

    • Read all internal publications including Source and Possibilities.

    Qualifications

    • Two years college with one to three years secretarial emphasis or legal secretary experience or similar/related experience.

     

    • Must possess proficient word processing and administrative skills.

     

    • Excellent verbal communication skills to communicate professionally.

     

    • Must possess a high degree of poise and tact to represent the credit union positively in outside contacts.

     

    • Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimum supervision.

     

    • Excellent written skills required.

     

    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.

     

    • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

     

    • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and internet.
