  • Overview

    Responsible for full cycle recruiting and onboarding process for designated region. This includes interviewing, testing and hiring applicants. Work with AVP of Talent Acquisition to develop sourcing strategies, recruiting plans and improving the overall candidate experience.


    This position will work temporarily at the Corporate Office in Tullahoma, TN but will ultimately be based in the Murfreesboro, TN region.


    • Recruit, interview, select and recommend qualified applicants to fill vacancies of authorized additions to staff as quickly and economically as possible.


    • Oversee the posting and selection of internal job openings. Review personnel files and interview qualified applicants. If needed, assist with selection and coordinate transfer and pay increase.


    • Work in Applicant Tracking System (iCIMS) to track all open positions in region and disposition candidates appropriately.


    • Present status of open positions to AVP of Talent Acquisition weekly and flag any positions that are hard to fill.


    • Review prospective employee applications to match skills with available vacancies and refer applicants for further interviews.


    • Develop rapport with candidates, via phone or in person. Use high level decision making skills to develop diplomatic recommendations for external candidate consideration for employment.


    • Maintain applicable records of all candidates interviewed and communicate with applicants to inform them of employment decisions. In cases where an applicant is judged unqualified, tactfully communicate such decision.


    • Promote Ascend Federal Credit Union as a “best place to work”.


    • Attend job fairs representing Ascend as an employer of choice.


    • Responsible for conducting employment and professional reference reviews for external candidates to ensure adequate information is obtained to determine candidate’s consideration for hire.


    • Negotiate and finalize job offers including credit checks and drug screening. Discuss any significant findings with AVP of Talent Acquisition.


    • Initiate and track onboarding process for each candidate assigned to you that has been extended an offer. Follow up on any assigned tasks not completed by deadlines.  Ensure all onboarding tasks are complete prior to new hire start date.


    • Understand and meet all assigned metrics including time to fill, offer acceptance rate etc.


    • Schedule applicant testing for internal and external job openings. Evaluate results to determine applicant’s qualification and discuss with applicable manager as required. Discuss significant result findings with AVP of Talent Acquisition.


    • Work with AVP of Talent Acquisition to schedule applicable training for new and transferring employees.


    • Assist other members of the Recruitment department in filling open requisitions as needed.


    • Oversee job postings for internal and external positions in designated region. This includes postings on the credit union’s public website, and other recruitment sites such as Indeed, LinkedIn, GlassDoor, etc.


    • Assist in carrying out strategic recruitment plans.


    • Verify and request payment for background check invoices.


    • Assist SVP/CHRO with various projects and tasks as required.


    • Complete annual training as required.


    • Read all internal credit union publications, including Source and Possibilities.


    Marginal Functions


    • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


    • Four years of college with emphasis in human resources desired with three to five years of previous recruiting experience. Two years credit union experience desired.


    • Must keep all information of a sensitive nature confidential.


    • Must present a friendly, professional image to credit union employees, members and applicants.


    • Excellent written and communications skills required in order to communicate with outside contacts, vendors, members and employees.


    • Must maintain a thorough knowledge of personnel policies and procedures in order to answer employee inquiries.


    • Willingness to work flexible hours in multiple locations.


    • Must be able to model and promote high learning and growth expectations of staff, including job skills, productivity and efficiency, teamwork, motivation and commitment, communication and problem solving, and understanding of credit union mission and vision.


    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.


    • Possession of a valid driver's license.


    • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office products and the internet. Must be able to be trained on various HR related programs, i.e. ADP, Halogen, Wonderlic, etc.


    • Must be able to use or have the ability to be trained to use related office equipment, including calculator, camera, personal computer, multifunction copier, overhead projector, DVD/VCR, audio visual equipment and telephone.
