  • Overview

    Work with the Digital Marketing Lead to execute online and social media marketing (SMM) strategies and roadmaps for Ascend Federal Credit Union. Use existing electronic delivery channels to identify innovative ways to engage and interact with members and potential members, partners and potential partners to drive awareness of and demand for Ascend products. Work with the Digital Marketing Lead to develop and implement an onboarding email strategy and continue to enhance and develop the existing email platform. Monitor and respond to social media and email inquiries. Work with the Digital Marketing Lead to develop and implement new online content such as video, blogs, infographics, etc. Possess strong and creative writing skills to bring digital content to life.

    Responsibilities

    • Cultivate new communities and manage branded online communities on Ascend’s behalf, and engage with members, potential members, online influencers, and partners using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media.
    • Drive social editorial for product promotionsand events aligned to strategic marketing priorities.

    • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy. Incorporate into Ascend’s SMM plan as appropriate.
    • Respond to inquiries, address complaints and challenges and do the utmost to improve the experience for all members connected with us online.
    • Work with Digital Marketing Lead and agency partners to plan and execute paid social advertising for the Ascend brand.
    • Work with Digital Marketing Lead to define and execute a video strategy for the credit union.
    • As part of that video strategy, create and drive video content for product promotions, career engagement, brand awareness, and other events aligned to strategic marketing priorities.
    • Optimize messaging and targeting for continuous improvement in social ad effectiveness.
    • Report on the effectiveness of campaigns and targets at regular intervals.
    • Maintain consistency of messaging, enhance and reinforce brand positioning and voice across multiple social media networks, and improve SEO.
    • Update, edit, and proofread online content and print collateral as required for accuracy, presentation of marketing messages, and brand style and usage.
    • Work with Digital Marketing Lead to develop creative concepts for special promotions and events with other members of the marketing team; support concepts with required writing (e.g. emails, social media, white papers, and blogs).
    • Ability to develop copy that works effectively for SEO purposes.
    • Conceptualize and write copy for a variety of marketing assets including print collateral, web content, sales collateral, emails, social media articles, etc.
    • Assist Senior Copywriter with writing press releases and content for website, blogs, social media, and other forms of communications taking into account appropriate messaging for a particular demographic, audience or industry as well as researching subject matter to ensure the quality and accuracy of the copy.
    • Execute email communications, implementing acquisition and retention, and successfully growing the email-marketing channel.
    • Leverage email marketing tools to develop transactional, promotional, and informational content strategies that maximize member retention and acquisition.
    • Implement a comprehensive email onboarding strategy that plugs seamlessly into Ascend’s current marketing efforts and effectively encourages engagement as well as election of products and services.
    • Develop and design email campaigns.
    • Use email marketing automation to connect and engage with members.
    • Optimize campaign performance through testing and segmentation.
    • Utilize agile marketing techniques to identify member pain points with our digital channels and look for ways to effectively address them.
    • Work in cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for our members.
    • Work in cross-functional teams to develop blog and infographic content for digital channels on an as-needed basis.
    • Collaborate with our graphic designers, advertising agency partners, and enthusiastically participate in a team environment.
    • Speak articulately for Ascend in all forms.
    • At all times, present the Ascend brand and each credit union product in a truthful and positive manner.
    • Read all internal publications including The Source and Possibilities.
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field. Previous financial industry experience is a plus.

    Experience:

    • Three or more years of experience in marketing (digital preferred), public relations, or advertising.
    • Certification in Google Analytics and/or Google Ad Words is a plus.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Expertise in and understanding of the social media universe, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, forums, wikis, blogs, etc. as well as an in-depth understanding of social media users.
    • Experience with social media management dashboards to manage all social media channels and conversations.
    • Expertise and knowledge in the online space (Web, email, search, database marketing, chat marketing, podcasting, blogging, privacy, e-business, etc.), including trends and technologies. 
    • Must possess strong graphic, communications, and copywriting skills.
    • Proven, professional track record in development of social media marketing strategies and programs, blog strategies, videos, and community engagement.
    • Creative expertise in the technical aspects of social media marketing, execution and development – including application knowledge.
    • Experience in capturing and editing video for social media and web.
    • Passion for following and engaging in social media conversations.
    • Knowledge and understanding of content marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO).
    • Knowledge and experience with HTML is a plus.
    • Excellent writing skills with proven ability to develop lively and engaging copy/content. Superior editing skills (grammar, spelling and punctuation) with strong attention to detail.
    • Possess a strong work ethic, dedication, motivation and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to multi-task effectively (good planning and organizational skills plus the ability to work under pressure).
    • Strong initiative and follow-through, capacity to think creatively and strategically.
    • Up-to-date on current marketing and social media trends.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Web maintenance; familiarity with HTML is a plus.
    • Solid graphic design skills and experience with Adobe programs (Premier, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) is a plus.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills to function effectively on multiple priorities and under compressed timelines. Ability to remain flexible, handling changing priorities and tight deadlines.
    • Ability to self-start and exercise initiative, good judgment, creativity, and diplomacy.
    • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent relationship management skills and a contributing team player.
    • Creative thinker with a strong desire for continuous improvement.
    • Track record of measurable success in developing engaging content to drive business goals.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
    • Must be able to effectively use office machinery including a personal computer, telephone, calculator, and multifunction copier.
