Overview

Design, develop and deliver effective and engaging training programs. Train and coach employees to achieve high performance levels in accordance with established policies and procedures. Evaluate trainee performance and determine appropriate training and development needs. Consult with internal subject matter experts and specialists to develop and maintain training materials and manuals.#LI-Onsite

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new employee onboarding according to prescribed outline to prepare new employees for Ascend’s culture and expectations.
  • Train employees as necessary by role to fulfill job responsibilities that include in conducting transactions and account maintenance, processing new consumer account applications and completing required documentation. Training includes computer programs, policies/procedures, product/service knowledge and regulatory compliance.
  • Train employees as necessary by role to service members through various delivery channels, including Contact Center and Teller Services (ITMs).
  • Train employees to uphold Ascend’s Core Values in every member interaction. Prepare employees to live the brand promise and help members reach financial goals.
  • Evaluate employees during training programs and report progress to VP of Talent Development and Culture and Training Manager. Recommend additional training or performance coaching that may be required.
  • Develop and maintain high levels of trust with employees and ensure clear communication of expected and achieved performance levels.
  • Review evaluations, coaching checklists and feedback forms as they are received from employee/managers. Follow up with employees at predetermined times after training. Determine if additional training or performance coaching should be recommended to the manager based on findings.
  • Travel to branches to observe employee performance to identify opportunities for additional training or process improvements as well as conduct training as part of on-the-job training programs.
  • Ensure compliance in all training content with all governing regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation Z, Regulation B/Fair Lending, etc.
  • Responsible for developing and deploying training materials (manuals, handouts, etc.) for training classes. Review materials regularly and implement new material as needed. Update training manuals and materials used during training sessions.
  • Assist in developing and deploying training programs and other training sessions and initiatives to develop and retain high performing employees. Make recommendations for training needed, either internal or from external credit union partners.
  • Responsible for developing and deploying required annual training courses/materials for all staff, including updating materials in a timely manner, as required. Make recommendations for training content, as necessary. Assist with reporting/tracking various trainings and programs.
  • Assist employees and supervisors with questions/problems that arise.
  • Attend seminars and training sessions to remain current on credit union policies, procedures, and services provided to membership in order to train employees to provide professional and accurate service to members.
  • Marginal Functions Prepare trainee accounts and training materials for on-the job training classes. • Review completed new hire paperwork and obtain additional documentation to ensure accurate completion. This includes making appropriate photocopies of identification documentation, and following up, as necessary. • Open new employee accounts and perform account maintenance as requested by new employees. • Assist with various necessary ‘self-study’ and/or correspondence training programs, such as Litmos Learning platform.
  • Prepare trainee accounts and training materials for on-the job training classes.
  • Review completed new hire paperwork and obtain additional documentation to ensure accurate completion. This includes making appropriate photocopies of identification documentation, and following up, as necessary.
  • Open new employee accounts and perform account maintenance as requested by new employees.
  • Assist with various necessary ‘self-study’ and/or correspondence training programs, such as Litmos Learning platform.
  • Read all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two year college degree or equivalent experience required
  • 1-3 years of similar or related experience required
  • 1-3 years credit union experience required
  • Previous teller, and new account experience required
  • Recent experience within the previous two years preferred
  • Must present a friendly, professional image to credit union employees and members.
  • Must maintain a thorough knowledge of the credit union's services to effectively train employees and answer inquiries.
  • Must maintain a thorough knowledge of personnel policies and procedures in order to answer employee inquiries.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in multiple locations.
  • Must be able to model and promote high learning and growth expectations of staff, including job skills, productivity and efficiency, teamwork, motivation and commitment, communication and problem solving, and understanding of credit union mission and goals.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office products, the internet and other training related programs.
  • Must be able to use or have the ability to be trained to use related office equipment, including calculator, camera, cash dispense machine, check and receipt printer, coin counter, personal computer, multifunction copier, audio visual equipment, VCR/DVD, Verifone terminal, telephone and check scanner.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
