Overview

The Commercial Servicing Specialist coordinates with Commercial Loan Processors and Business Loan Advisors (BLAs) to provide support for new money and renewal loan requests. This role is responsible for all booking, funding, lien perfection, file imaging, quality assurance reviews, trailing document and exception tracking, file maintenance, research, and paid loan processing for all BLAs in the commercial and small business lines over the life of the loan. #LI-Onsite

 

Responsibilities

Loan Boarding - Requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of commercial loan documentation.

 

  • Is responsible for timely and accurate boarding of closed loans.
  • Must be extremely organized in thoughts and ability to comprehend and follow established boarding procedures.
  • Reviews all terms and conditions of executed loan documentation and proactively questions when any documentation is outside the norm.
  • Must be able to book all business loan types utilizing the credit union’s preferred loan origination system.

 

Disbursement and Funding of Closed Loans – Requires a thorough knowledge of established loan disbursement and funding procedures for the core system.

 

  • Verify underwriting and closing conditions are cleared reporting any exceptions through established procedures.
  • Disburse MBL loans after review of completed audit disbursement, loan reconciliation and documentation from loan settlement.
  • Process loan related invoices as needed.

 

Loan Administration – Requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of loan administration software.

 

  • Establish, monitor and maintain post-close and non-financial ticklers with continued follow up until all outstanding issues are resolved.
  • Verify accuracy of portfolio loans and associated collateral entries.
  • Create and organize collateral paper files and electronic documentation files according to established procedures.
  • Responsible for monitoring an assigned portfolio of commercial loans to ensure audit readiness.

 

 

Loan Servicing – Requires a complete and thorough understanding of internal and core system procedures.

 

  • Post transactions including payments, pay downs, payoffs, advances, and loan maintenance.
  • Monitor, coordinate and process loan payoffs and associated collateral releases and partial releases.
  • Assist with maturing loan monitoring and processing.
  • Process modification and extension requests for existing loans.
  • Monitoring of delinquencies and participate in collection efforts.
  • May assist with construction loan monitoring and draw request processing.
  • Answer questions for Business Solutions staff and members concerning loan servicing issues.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree or higher post-secondary education in a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in loan operations or servicing.
  • Three or more years of commercial loan operations or commercial servicing experience.
  • Previous experience in booking commercial loans.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret loan documentation.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that invoke a team approach and cooperative attitude.
  • Advanced knowledge of core operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and proficiency with departmental loan administration software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter working through responsibilities to completion under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in duties and processes while appropriately prioritizing tasks.
  • Committed to learning the “why” behind processes for knowledge, improved processes, and better communication.
  • Sound oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a competent grasp of the Board of Director’s Commercial Loan Policy and MBL Procedures with adherence to those policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
